Spain - Costa Almeria to Costa Calida

I am getting good at identifying the symbols for castles, beaches, forts, ruins etc on street signs so whenever we see a turnoff to a 'site of interest', that isn't more than 10km or so off the road we check it out. This turnoff took us to a defence tower ruin from the 1500s and a lovely beach. Another great find! The Tower of the Alumbras was constructed in 1510 to defend Rodalquilar. The area is largely unpopulated now (and made into a National Park) but back then it was an important trading area and needed to be protected from pirates and other enemies.
